Fortune favors the bold… Chances are if you have been following my pieces, your plans for the future don’t include climbing the corporate ladder. Be a good entrepreneur who lives on the right side of the cash flow quadrant.
Here are a few things you need to do as an entrepreneur to reach that goal.
1. Don’t be afraid to launch too early.
There is no such thing as a perfect product. All the successful products out there evolve and are never “finished.” If your product offers value to your target customer, it’s ready to launch. Everything else will come in due time. This doesn’t mean you start a business around an incomplete product, but you should wait until it’s perfect, either.
2. Treat cash flow as king
You will need enough money to not only start your business, but to support yourself during the start up months as well. Once you have money coming in, be sure to reinvest it into your business. This can occur in many different forms, such as marketing, business development, or even in yourself.
3. Make meaningful mistakes
Most people try to minimize failure in their life, so they don’t take risks. Successful people don’t fear failure but understand that it’s necessary to learn and grow from. They take big risks knowing that they might fail more than they ever have before. Of course, they might succeed more than they have ever dreamed instead. They’ll only know after having tried.
4. Be a great communicator
Communication is your #1 job as an entrepreneur. To own a business, you have to master the art of communicating to multiple types of people—customers, employees, contractors, vendors, investors, and probably more. Effective communication will lead to more cash flow, more capital, and ultimately, better business.
