Why Smart Africans Should Consider Starting An Online Business

He had just been been laid off from work. With a pregnant wife and no job, his life appeared useless. But rather than going back to look for another job in an industry that was seeing a sharp decline in the number of available jobs, Patt Flynn turned to the internet as  he launched GreenExamAcademy.com as an online business.

Patt describes GreenExamAcademy.com as “an online business that helps professionals in the design and building industry pass an exam called the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) exam.

While still teenager, Bamidele Onibalusi, a freelance writer from Nigeria started his online writing business, and has gone to do exploits. He’s used money from his online business to fund a fish farm and other offline business interests.

There are plenty of reasons as to why many people start an online business, and below I will provide you with just a few of them. For a lot of people, the main reason to start an online business is to earn an extra money. Usually, this is in addition to the money that they are already earning form their existing job or business. But for others, what starts as a part time venture, soon becomes a full time one.

Another reason that people decide to start up an online business – the reason I chose to pursue an online business –  is to  have more control over my work time and work life. By investing the necessary resources in building a sustainable online business, I know without an ounce of a doubt that it’s only a matter of time before I’m fully supported by the work I do online.

An online business  provides you with a chance to spend more time with your family and friends. Today much too much time is spent working, and many people find that they have very little or no time to spend with the people you love and care about.

Besides the few reasons that I’ve mentioned already, there are a number of other reasons why you would want to consider starting an online business if you are live in an African city.

  • Say Goodbye to Rush Hour Traffic

With a successful online business, you no longer need to get up in the morning only to an office you hate, getting caught up in traffic for over an hour and a half.

You could put those three hours per day (1.5 hour each way) to better use. Additionally, you can choose when to start work. Even though my online business does not support me full time yet, I still do much of my work from home. And I tell you, there’s no better feeling than knowing that you don’t have to be heading out of the house at 4:30 in the morning only to avoid being stuck in traffic.

  • No Such Thing As A Secure Job Anymore

No matter how the economy of your country may seem to be improving, the one thing you can be sure of is that there’s always going to be change. Whether it’s Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, Kenya, Rwanda, Angola, Namibia or anywhere else, you need to know that you could loose your job at any time for any reason out of your control.

With that knowledge in mind, you need to seriously look at starting your own online business.

  • Prosperity

There are so many people who have become seriously wealthy and prosperous thanks to their online businesses. With the near daily advancements in technology, there’s way too much opportunity to become wealthy, prosperous and successful.

  • Costs of Starting Up

This is probably one of the biggest reasons as to why many people choose to start an online business. Starting an online business is one of the easiest things to do in the world.  The cost to start is super low. As a matter of fact you can start your own online business for as low as $3.95 per month
